Online orders

Now all Pizza Hut's are using the fantastic Micros system, online ordering is available for collection and delivery from nearly every hut.

The problem is although it works most of the time, the time it doesn't is the time when you get a silly customer.

If a customer wants to collect in an hour - we won't even know about that order until about 20-30 minutes before the collection is due. Which I suppose can cut down on confusion, but I'm not too sure. The real problems come when the customer inputs their own order. Basically they use our system but in a more 'user friendly' way. So you get orders like this:

M Pan Supreme
NO PEPPERONI
DBL PEPPERONI

NO MUSH
DBL MUSH

and so on.

You get orders which end up cancelling each other out, why the system even allows the customer to do this is baffling.

You'd think they would fix this problem. No - they call it costly. A new menu has just been introduced, with a few price increases. So they spend thousands on these new menus, and changing the website price should just be a quick thing which the internal IT team can do. Not this time though, we got a memo which basically said - because the price increases aren't very big, it isn't economically viable to change the website, so when we receive online orders could you please honour the old price.

Anyway, that'll do for now on the rant. Now I work in a new place I will post more regularly, because the customers are a hell of a lot more ratty.

So good to read your bits once more.

Al was talking about an issue he had with his photo scheduler software the other day, and we were saying just who tests this software before they roll it out?

I'd never dream of sending some code to someone without making sure it worked!

And that's just laughable... "can't change the website"... If that's their attitude, they might as well just take it down, and get customers to just ring in.

I expect whomever had responsibility for contracting out the website management and design took the cheapest quote, without reading the small print, and the company concerned make back their money by charging huge amounts for these quick fixes.

*Sigh*

Any websites I can look at that explain the "Micros" system. Oh, and what do you think of the new pasta range? Taste OK?

Anyway, great to see you back.

I like the new pasta range although we've only sold a few of the vegetarian ones, mos of our stock of those has been eaten by a fellow delivery driver lol.

The online orders can be bloody rediculous at times, someone orders a Super Supreme then deletes all the toppings and puts on three new ones, bizarre and very confusing when you read the order back to the customer at the door, another small gripe is the way it prints items so that the order sorta rolls into one eg, it looks like BBQ Wings are part of the pizza (hopefully you know what I mean lol). Mind you anyone ordering online can't complain it's late as they are given no promise time which can be handy.

We're actually having a small issue with the hot spots at the mo, the mediaum box ones in the batch we have don't work so you haveto explain that to the cstomer at the door and why it may be grey rather than pink even though the goods only came out of the over a few minutes earlier!

John, that "wings as a topping" reminded me of the Simpson's episode where Homer tries to pass off candies as "free" donut "sprinkles" in "Lisa's Date With Density". To paraphrase Apu;

"A chicken wing bar is not a topping. A potato wedge is not a topping. A profiterole is not a topping, sir. Perhaps in Shangri-La they are, but not here!"

;-)

DO you know if your driver actually enjoys the new range, or just eats it because it's a sort-of "freebie"?

Actualy James he loves them, he's been known to have two a day, one for lunch and then one when he goes home in the evening lol. Mind you he is a big bloke (tall that is) so he needs a fair amount of calories!

LOLX What if i order 10 unit of big pizzt. One delivery man might not able to take 10 unit in one motorbike.

Hut will crazy to seeking another delivery man (that might be add-hoc job)

I suspect they online form forces then to say no topping to order dbl topping. Here in the states the online ordering sometimes it very confusing what all you have ordered when using a coupon until you get to the checkout screen and it lists the total order.

Micros will a very complicated system once you get down the basic logic of the system doesnt change a great deal.

Why is it that Pizza Hut Pizza is so greasy and I always feel dehydrated after eating several slices? Does it have a very high salt content and is it bad for my acne, pimples and zits.
